The State government has enhanced the cost of cooking mid-day meals for school children studying in Classes IX and X from Rs 4.40 to Rs 4.65 with effect from April 1 for 2012-13.
According to a GO issued in this regard, the Commissioner & Director of School Education has submitted a proposal to the State government, as per the Centre’s guidelines, for enhancement of existing cooking cost at the rate of 7.5% during 2012-13 with effect from April 1 this year to revise the cooking cost rate from Rs 3.84 to Rs 4 for primary classes, from Rs 4.40 to Rs 4.65 for Upper Primary Classes. The Commissioner requested the government to enhance cooking rates for preparing Mid Day Meals from Rs 4.40 to Rs 4.65 for the students in classes IX and X with effect from April 1, .2012 as the State government has to bear the entire share for these two classes.
After enhancement of rate by GoI 7.5% (Primary on Rs 2.17 and Upper Primary on Rs 3.25) with effect from April 1 per child, the Centre’s share will be 75 per cent, the State’s share 25 per cent and additional commitment will be Rs 0.89 for primary classes. (NSS)
