Convention on Biodiversity releases report

Kalpavriksh and Greenpeace released a new report during the COP-11 Bio-diversity conference being held at HICC.

The report comprising of 27 pages exposes human rights violations against tribal and other forest dwellers in the forests of Singrauli in Madhya Pradesh, that are under threat from the Indian government’s massive coal expansion programme.

An interview of a tribal woman named Amravati has been included in the report. She told that her family had been living here since generations, however now with the fencing in the forest areas, carried out by the government, their employment has been greatly affected.
