Controversy over speech at Masjid Azizia, MWD seeks report from WB

Hyderabad: Minority Welfare Department has sought a report from Waqf Board in connection with the controversial speech by Khateeb of Masjid Azizia, located at Mehdipatnam. Secretary Minority Welfare Syed Omer Jaleel who is also competent authority of Waqf Board has asked Chief Executive Officer Waqf Board to submit the report. On the basis of the claims of the parties, Chief Executive Office submitted the report and suggested to keep the said Khateeb suspended till the report from the 5 key Islamic seminaries is received. Secretary Minority Welfare is said to have accepted the proposal.

However immediate decision is being avoided under the pressure of influential personalities.

According to reports the CD of the controversial speech has been sent to 5 Islamic seminaries seeking report. On the basis of the report of Islamic scholars and muftis, Minority Welfare Department will take action against Masjid Committee and Khateeb.

According to sources some high officials included in the government and local political party leaders insist on wrapping up the case without any action.
