The controversy continues over construction of proposed Hajj House on the Waqf land near Pahadi Shareef. Although Minority Welfare Minister Ahmedullah announced that foundation stone of the new Hajj House will be laid after Panchayat elections, but State Hajj Committee’s stand in this regard is quite contrary. Passing a resolution in a recent meeting State Hajj Committee demanded that the government allot government land at the prime location of the city for construction of Hajj House.
The Hajj Committee gave three proposals. One, to allot government land at prime a location of the city, second, permission of construction on the vacant land adjacent to present Hajj House, the last resort is construction of Hajj house at the land allotted at Pahadi Shareef. Government argues that currently no government land is available at the prime location of the city. And it seems that government is not in a position to allot the land adjacent to present Hajj House either. Hence only the third option to accept Pahadi Shareef land is left with the Hajj Committee. It must be noted that the term of State Hajj Committee expires on August 15.
