A 25-year-old contractor was shot dead allegedly by unidentified criminals near the NH-side of Silipur junction on the outskirts of the township, triggering tension in nearby localities.
“Babu Sethy was shot dead late last night. Police are on the job to arrest the killers. Special squads have been
formed to nab them at the earliest. We are optimistic that crime mongers would be booked shortly,” said Inspector
Marshaghai police station, Sukant Kumar Patra.
Two motorcycle-borne assailants gunned down Sethy from close range. Many were witness as the incident occurred
at the crowded NH traffic junction. The assailants were wearing mask and fled from the spot after firing in the open
to terrorise the public. Three bullets pierced into his body and he died on the spot, he said.
Tension mounted at the NH junction site and adjoining villages following the incident. Agitated locals staged a road
blockade today demanding immediate arrest of the accused persons.
