Contract marriage racket busted in city, 2 Sudan Nationals arrested

Hyderabad, June 28: The Hyderabad Police on Tuesday exposed contract marriages racket by arresting two Sudan Nationals along with Qazis and brokers.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police South Zone Mr.Vineet Brijlal told media persons at a press conference that one girl by name Nousheen Begum resident of Bela Colony, Sultan Shahi rushed to the Moghalpura Police station and complained that without obtaining her consent on 9 June her Nikah was performed with a Sudan National Mohammed Ansari.

The DCP further told that the Nikah was carried out on the behest of her mother and two Qazis Shakeel and Mallik brokered the Nikah. The Sudan National Ansari gave 50,000/- towards Dower (Meher) and the two pimps Zahra Begum and Ghousia Begum shared the same amount. It is alleged that they took her thumb impression on blank bond papers and against her consent.

The girl was wrongfully confined her in AB Apartments, Prem Nagar, Khairatabad by Sudanese bridegroom who also brought his Sudanese friend Khaled 27 yrs who touched and misbehaved with her.

The investigation carried out by Police the disclosed that two women pimps by name Zahra Begum and Ghousia Begum both aged about 40 years were operating in old city and their purpose was to scout for poor minor aged Muslim girls and lure their parents into performing a marriage with foreigners.

The female brokers use to take help from the Qazis and bring the girl and parents to these two Qazis Shakeel and Mallik. The Police told that Qazis connive with brokers and parents in order to create Nikah Nama and necessary papers showing that the girl has consented to marry a foreigner. They also presented minor girl as a major in the document.

The two women were in the habit of engaging the Sudanese nationals who come Hyderabad on a student visa and facilitate them by arranging a contract marriage. The students were paying fifty thousand rupees to the parents of the bride. The Police claimed that the intention of the Sudan national Ansari was to enjoy during the academic years and later deserting them.

The Police seized passport of two Sudanese persons and one blank bond paper containing thumb impressions and signatures of the victim bride from accused Sudanese bridegroom.
