Patna, November 12: In a reprieve for leader of Opposition in Bihar assembly Rabri Devi, the Patna High Court today dropped a contempt proceedings against her after she apologised before it for her “uncharitable remarks” against the judiciary.
A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Shivakirti Singh and Justice S K Sharma dropped the proceedings for her alleged “uncharitable remarks against judiciary” during a election speech at Jamui in April.
Rabri in her reply filed to the court tendered unconditional apology for the inconvenience, if any, caused to the court.
Ashutosh Ranjan Pandey, a senior advocate, in his petition filed in the court in April had argued for initiation of contempt proceedings against the former chief minister for her alleged comments against the judiciary.
The court, while initiating the proceedings, had asked Rabri to explain her position in this connection.
