Consumer Forum Delivers Judgment In Telugu

A.P State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission member R. Laxminarsimha Rao on Thursday stated that on the occasion of International Mother Tongue Day and in order to promote usage of Telugu in the Consumer Fora, the Additional Bench of the A.P. State Commission delivered verdict in F.A.No.25 of 2012 in Telugu.

The case involved the matter of repudiation of insurance claim. The LIC of India has repudiated the claim on the premise that the complainant C. Venkataramudu suppressed the fact that he was suffering from angina on stress at the time of obtaining the Insurance policy. The complainant approached the District Forum stating that at the time of submitting the proposal he was not suffering from any disease and he had undergone heart surgery one year after obtaining the insurance policy.

The District Forum dismissed the complaint.

Aggrieved by the ruling of the District Forum, the complainant approached the State Commission and the State Commission allowed the appeal holding that at the time of submitting the proposal he was not suffering from any disease and “angina on stress” was detected only after filing of the proposal form is a symptom and not a disease.
