A ceremony to mark the start of construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya will take place on February 21, even if those gathering there have to face bullets, said Religious leader Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati.
The date for the planned ceremony was announced at the end of a three-day meeting of religious leaders at the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. The ceremony is being called ‘Ishtika Nyas’, or the laying of bricks.
This came after the government sought direction for releasing 67 acres, which it had acquired about two-and-a-half decades back, around the 2.77 acres of disputed Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid disputed land.
According to news agency Press Trust of India, the religious leader Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati.said they were “ready to face bullets.”
The sadhus will begin their march to Ayodhya from Prayagraj after Basant Panchami, that is February 10, said the Shankaracharya. He even criticised the BJP government for not bringing law to begin the construction of the Ram temple, despite having an absolute majority in the Lok Sabha.
