Stating that the State government would speed up construction of double bed room houses, IT Minister KT Ramarao has said the State government will see that the program would stand as a role model to the entire nation.
KTR held a review meeting on the implementation of the DBR housing scheme in the municipal areas, especially in Hyderabad City, at the Secretariat here on Wednesday. Municipal Administration secretary Navin Mittal, other officials and representatives of construction companies attended the meeting.
Speaking on occasion, the Minister said Telangana State stood as a role model in the nation in construction of pucca houses. The Chief Minister supervised the scheme directly, he said and reiterated that one lakh houses will be constructed in Hyderabad as announced earlier.
KTR said the State government has prepared plans to take up projects in regard to infrastructure in Hyderabad. He said the government will strive to complete skyways in the next two years. The State government was taking the double bedroom houses scheme as its social responsibility, he said. He urged the construction companies to participate in the construction of double bedroom houses as a social responsibility.
The Minister for Municipal Administration & Urban Development opined that the double bed room houses scheme would help make the city slum-free. He said the cement companies have come forward to provide cement at lesser price and the government has already discussed the issue with the cement companies and the government has decided to provide sand free of cost, he said.
The State government would construct double bed room houses in a big way at one place to provide education, medical and other needed social infrastructure to the people live in double bed room houses. Making it clear that there was no trouble in paying bills, KTR said the government has identified 600 acres of land for construction of double bed room houses on the city outskirts. (NSS)
