Constable who saved 72 passengers by putting his life in danger, still denied promotion

Mohammed Iqbal Shareef Head Constable Adilabad (Kareem Nagar Range) served the police department with utmost dedication. During his 35 year old service he bagged 20 cash awards, 20 GSE (Good service Entry) and 1 Seva Padak. He saved the lives of 72 passengers by putting his own life in danger. Despite all these achievements State Police Department forgot Iqbal Shareef and he is still on the post of head constable while he should have been promoted to the post of inspector police so far.

It must be recalled that on January 13, 1993, two Sikhs attacked passengers of Hazrat Nizamuddin Express, Bogie no S9, leaving them injured. On the occasion the constable put his own life in danger and saved the lives of 72 passengers. He was stabbed by the Sikh miscreants during which he sustained serious injuries. It was believed that the police department would promote him to the post of sub inspector but neither was he given gold medal as promised by IGCH Koteshwar Rao IPS nor promoted. SP Railway police Dr. BL Mina issued promotion order but the same has not been implemented till date.
