Constable, two of his friends held for assaulting SHO

New Delhi A Delhi police constable and two of his friends were arrested for allegedly beating up the Station House Officer of a police station in West Delhi in the wee hours today.

According to police, the incident took place around 3.20 am when two of the accused persons identified as Anand, a truck owner, and Pushpendra were challaned by a traffic team posted at West Delhi’s Dwarka Mor area.

Anand and Pushpendra then contacted their friend Sachin, who is a constable posted at Sadar Bazar police station in North Delhi, said a senior police officer.

The three of them then went to the SHO of Uttam Nagar police station, Bhagwaan Singh and demanded immediate action against the traffic officials who challaned Anand and Pushpendra, he said.

When the SHO refused to do so, the trio threatened him.

The SHO then asked the trio to leave the police station following which the three of them assaulted him, he added.

All the three accused were booked under sections 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) of IPC and they were arrested immediately, said the officer.
