Panaji: A constable sustained injuries today when his rifle went off accidentally at the police headquarters here.
Constable Abhay Naik, attached as a security officer for MP Narendra Sawaikar, was cleaning his rifle at the armoury this afternoon when the incident took place, a police spokesperson said.
“The rifle went off accidentally, hitting his hand. He was immediately shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital,” he said,
Another constable, who was standing near Naik, had a narrow escape as the bullet just passed off him, the spokesperson said.
