New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday alleged that, at the central level, a “conspiracy is being hatched to derail all the good work of the Delhi government” and warned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung “not to play with the democracy”.
“A conspiracy is being hatched to derail all the good works of Delhi government as they are now threatening officers and asking them not to work,” Sisodia said while addressing the Delhi assembly during its special session on Friday.
“Modi ke dwara, LG k madhyam se loktantra par hamla kiya ja raha hai (An attack is being made on democracy by Modi through the Lt Gov),” he said, adding that “they have made joke of freedom and democracy and they are now giving trouble to Delhiites”.
Sisodia alleged that officers are being threatened to submit the files of the Delhi government works, including the construction of rooms in private schools and ‘Mohalla clinics’ and that a conspiracy was going on to ruin these.
“This is a serious attack on democracy by the Centre through the LG. Modi wants to break our campaign against private schools. Those officers working well have been transferred. Latest transfer order was of a PWD Secretary and Health Secretary,” he said.
The Lt Governor issued a transfer order in August 30 against two non-IAS officials – PWD Secretary Sarvagya Srivastava and Health Secretary Tarun Seem. While 1992-batch IAS officer Ashwani Kumar will replace Srivastava, Environment Secretary Chandraker Bharti will be given additional charge as Secretary, Health.
Sisodia warned Modi and Jung that “people know everything and will give you solid reply”.
“Hum apki sone ki lanka me aag laga denge (we will burn your golden Lanka),” he said, and pointing towards BJP member Vijender Gupta, told him: “We are not threatened”.
