New Delhi : Shiv Sena leader Sanjat Raut, who was present at an all-party meeting chaired by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu, on Monday said the conspiracy to break India apart needs to be discussed in the upcoming Budget Session of Parliament.
Talking about the furore over the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) row, Raut told ANI that there were other similar ‘burning’ issues in the nation that needs to be discussed in the Parliament.
“There are many burning issues in this nation besides JNU and there should be a discussion on all of them. The Prime Minister has said that attempts are being made to destabilise his government and we agree with him, but there is conspiracy to tear India apart and there should be a discussion on that,” Raut said.
Asserting that discussions over the elements responsible behind the JNU standoff will also be held in the Parliament, he added that the issues being raised by the Opposition also needs to be addressed in the matter.
Meanwhile, the Centre has said that they have no hesitation in discussion the JNU row in the Parliament.
“It’s a big country and yes there are several issues. That’s what the Parliament is there for, to discuss those issues. Government has no hesitation in discussing JNU or Hyderabad University or any other issues. There are different views on it which needs to be debated,” Naidu told the media.
Calling on the Opposition to adopt a positive approach for the upcoming Budget Session, he added that holding discussions should be the protocol in the Parliament instead of disruption.
Leaders from various political parties, including Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Jyotiraditya Scindia, CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, CPI (M) politburo member Mohammed Salim besides others were present in the meeting.
The Budget Session will begin on February 23. While the first session will continue till March 16, the second session will take place from April 25 to May 13.
President Pranab Mukherjee will address the joint session of the Parliament on February 23. The Railway Budget will be presented on February 25 while the Union Budget will be presented on February 29.
The government has been critical of the Opposition for blocking the House proceedings and important legislations. (ANI)
