Conspiracy against Jagan’s followers alleged

Hyderabad, August 07: Stepping up attack again on the party leadership in the state, suspended PCC general secretary Ambati Rambabu on Thursday alleged that a section within the Congress was bent upon ousting the followers of Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy from the party.

“There is also a conspiracy being hatched to bury the family of former chief minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy politically,” he said.

Launching a tirade against the Congress leaders opposing Jagan’s yatra, Rambabu, in an obvious reference to chief minister K Rosaiah, said that people in power have organised memorial meetings of Rajasekhara Reddy on September 2 and from the same day started taking steps to shunt Jagan loyalists out of the party. He regretted that several innovative programmes and schemes launched by Rajasekhara Reddy were also being diluted.

Addressing a press conference here today, Rambabu reiterated that Jagan would not leave the party nor float any new outfit. “The reports appearing in a section of the media on Jagan floating a separate political party are false and baseless. We will be in the party and continue to raise our voices against the policies and actions of the leaders who are against the people and the party,” he said.

On show-cause notice given to former minister and MLA K Surekha by the party, Rambabu said the party had no power to issue showcause notice to Surekha. In his case, he said he did not till date receive any communication on his suspension. “We hear the news through media only,’’ he said.
