Ahmedabad, January 06: One of the accomplices of conman Ashok Jadeja, who allegedly duped people in the name of God and masterminded a multi-crore scam, escaped from the police lock-up in the Satellite area of the city, police said today.
Hakambhai Rathod, one of Jadeja’s agents, escaped late last night from the lock-up, they said. He had been arrested last year.
According to police, FIR has been lodged against Assistant Sub-Inspector Uday Sinh and constable Pratap for showing negligence on duty.
They said all police stations have been informed about the incident and efforts are on to trace the fugitive.
Jadeja, who masterminded an inter-state scam, has several cases registered against him in various states.
Till now, police have arrested over 20 people including five agents and some of Jadeja’s family members who were allegedly involved in the nationwide scam.
Total recovery made during investigation has reached over Rs 17 crore.
