BJP national leader M Venkaiah Naidu said that the Congress party has written its own death warrant by hiking the power tariff so much that no where else in the country such hike was witnessed.
Talking to the media at the state party office here on Monday, he said with this, no force on earth would be able to stop the fall of the Congress in the state. He said Congress which came
to power by assuring the people with the slogan “Congress ke Haath Aaam Aadmi ke Saath” cheated the people by unbearable burden through the power tariff hike on the people. He said
the government made the lives of common people miserable through this measure.
Venkaiah said the government hiked fertilizer charges 8 times and fuel charges 22 times and added that the effect of these hikes was seen in the prices of essential commodities and bus and train charges, apart from the prices of fertilizers. He said the power tariff proposed by the electricity board was not implemented in any state of the country. He said though the Congress party came to power twice in the state, neither the government of Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy nor that of K Rosaiah had done anything to improve power generation. He said there was no proper supply to hospitals, industries and educational institutions and that domestic consumers were being subjected to power cuts ranging from 18 to 19 hours. He said the government should be ashamed to give promotions to those who were mercilessly collecting power charges and assuring transfers to places of their choice. He said while leaders were boasting that the country was progressing rapidly, they were simultaneously asking the people not to consume more than 100 units of power per month. He has questioned if this was a sign of progress or backwardness. (NSS)
