Congress won’t tolerate anti-labour policies: Uttam

Accusing both, NDA Government at the Centre and TRS Government in the State, for implementing anti-labour policies, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy today said that his party won’t tolerate such policies anymore.

He was speaking on the occasion of May Day celebrations at Gandhi Bhavan which were organized by INTUC. He said that central government has backtracked on its move to tax the EPF holdings and to reduce the interest on the same after severe backlash in the form of nationwide agitations. Stating that only labour unions were responsible for Centre’s backtrack on this issue, he said that the Congress party would always support unions in their agitations.

Uttam vowed that his party would fight for the rights of labourers and trade unions against any attempt of the Centre and state governments to implement the anti labour policies. He stated that workers or union leaders must have to fight for their rights and that Congress party would always be with them. He was speaking at the May Day trade union program at the party office held under INTUC state president Prakash Goud.

Uttam Kumar Reddy further said that Congress party has always rewarded and given priority to the labour union leaders. He condemned the TRS Government for not taking initiatives to establish new industries rather shutting down the existing industries by colluding with managements thus trying to fudge the rights of labours in the state.

TPCC general secretary Premalata Agarwal, INTUC union leaders and others have participated in the event. (NSS)
