Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy has claimed that the Congress party would soon return to power in the Telangana State.
Addressing a press conference at Congress Legislature Party office here on Saturday, Jana Reddy said that the Congress candidate T Lakshmamma has won the MPP elections from Sadashivpet of Medak district. He said that the MPP elections, whose results were declared on Friday, were an indication that people were unhappy with the performance of TRS Government and they started realising that only Congress party was fit to rule the State. He advised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to focus on implementation of promises that he made with the people. Else, he said people would teach TRS a fitting lesson in next elections.
Jana Reddy also demanded that the State Government convene the Assembly session to discuss the agriculture issue as lakhs of farmers were in distress due to failed monsoon.
He also condemned the arrest of leaders of opposition parties for staging a dharna at the State Secretariat on the issue of municipal workers.
Speaking about TRS leaders’ allegations of irregularities in Indiramma Housing scheme by the Congress leaders, he dared the TRS Government to order a probe. He said that instead of leveling allegations, the State Government should order a probe and initiate action against the guilty. He said he was ready to face any probe.
When asked whether former Deputy CM Damodar Raj Narasimha was being fielded as Congress candidate for by-elections to Warangal Lok Sabha seat, he said that the party has been gathering views from the local workers and a final decision would be taken by the High Command. (INN)
