Congress will form the government on its own: TPCC

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Mohammad Ahmed Ali on Sunday claimed that the Congress party would form the government on its own in the new State of Telangana.

In a media statement, Ahmed Ali said that the Congress would win majority of seats in Telangana and it would form the first government of Telangana on its own. He expressed confidence that the Congress would win more than two-third of seats. Therefore, it would not need the support of any other party. However, in case the party falls short of magic number to form the government, then it might take the support of Communist Party of India.

The CPI had a pre-poll alliance with the Congress party and the latter had left eight Assembly and one Parliament seats. Therefore, if needed the Congress would take the support of CPI. Similarly, the Congress might seek the support of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen to form the government.

The CPI had four MLAs in the last Assembly while the MIM had seven legislators. Both the parties are confident of increasing their tally in 2014 elections. Therefore, the Congress might enter into a post-poll alliance with both the parties. However, Ahmed Ali said that the Congress might not face such a situation.

Ahmed Ali said that people have already rejected the TRS, which tried to capatalise on Telangana sentiments. He said people have voted in favour of Congress party after realising that it was AICC President Smt Sonia Gandhiji who granted statehood for Telangana region. He said people have rubbished the false claims of TRS on Telangana formation. (INN)
