Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Wednesday announced that the Congress party would contest on only five out of 12 MLC seats.
Speaking to media persons here, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress would not contest on MLCs seats from Local Authorities’ Constituencies of Adilabad, Karimnagar and Warangal. He said that the TPCC did not receive concrete suggestions from the DCC Presidents of these three districts and therefore, it was decided not to contest from thosoe seats. He informed former MP Komatireddy Rajagopal will be candidate from Nalgonda, Chandrashekar Reddy from Ranga Reddy, Damodhar Reddy from Mahabubnagar, Venkataramana Reddy from Nizamabad and Shivraj Patel from Medak. All these names have been cleared by the Congress High Command.
Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the ruling TRS was trying to lure MPTC and ZPTC members of Congress party to win MLC elections. Citing an instance, he said that the Congress has 536 members in Nalgonda LAC while TRS has just 137 members. But still, the TRS has fielded its candidate from Nalgonda district. (INN)
