Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday downplayed the ruckus engineered by the Congress Party in the Rajya Sabha over the Moga molestation case and said the party that has ruled for so many years needs to be aware of the rules and regulations in the House.
“There are no second thoughts that such unfortunate acts should be condemned. It is not in the interest of the nation to do politics over an issue which has a direct solution to it. Congress Party members created a ruckus in the Rajya Sabha but did not issue a notice,” Naidu told the media here.
“The Congress Party has ruled for so many years. They should be aware of the rules and regulations of the assembly. Creating such an environment in the Assembly will be of no one’s help,” he added.
The Rajya Sabha had earlier in the day witnessed repeated adjournments over the recent incident of molestation of a woman bus passenger in Punjab’s Moga District.
The House was adjourned twice as opposition members continued to raise the issue demanding a discussion on the matter.
Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurien refused permission to raise the matter, saying that the Chair has not received prior notice in this regard.
The House was adjourned by Prof. Kurien first for ten minutes till 11.35 a.m. and later till noon, as Congress members continued to raise the issue along with slogan shouting. (ANI)
