Yet again accusing the BJP of playing divisive politics, Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Sunday launched a veiled attack on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi urging voters to defeat divisive forces. “There is a face-off of two ideologies. On one hand there is Congress that worked towards uniting people and on the other hand there are forces that always tried to spread hatred and divide people,” said Sonia at rally in Assam.
“The Congress has strengthened the country’s Ganga-Jamuna culture but the BJP instead of strengthening it, is all out to weaken the country,” she said. She urged the people not to be swayed by the “false promises of the opposition but be guided by their own good sense and take a decision to support the Congress and vote for their candidates.”

Sonia promised that if voted back to power, the Congress will implement every promise in the 2014 manifesto. “We do not make false promises. We have fulfilled almost all promises made in the 2009 manifesto. We will do the same with the 2014 manifesto and we need your support for this,” she said.
While praising Congress, she said that the UPA government has given many rights to people – Right to Information, Right to Food among others. “The Congress believes in ‘Har Haath Shakti, Har Haath Tarakki (Power to each one, progress for all)”, Sonia said.
