Congress, TRS slinging match likely today

The budget session in Telangana Assembly is likely to be stormy on Monday as the main Opposition Congress and ruling TRS party are prepared to take on each other on the budget proposals.
Even as the Opposition is raising its voice for a few days, the ruling party has geared up to tackle the situation that may go out of gear. It may be noted here that Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao made it clear on Friday that those who storm the Speaker’s podium will be ejected through marshals. Jana Reddy, who invited criticism from his party leaders for being soft on the ruling party, rose to the occasion now. Unexpectedly, he staged a walkout from the House against the ruling party’s reply during a brief discussion on demands on Friday.
Besides, the Leader of Opposition also found fault with the treasury benches for suspending the TD members for the entire session which is undemocratic. Not convinced with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s assurance of taking the Opposition into confidence on welfare, agriculture and other priority sectors, the Congress leaders are vying to take on the ruling party.
The Government is now focusing on winding up the issues on day-to-day basis as impending Appropriation Bill is to be passed on March 26 and 27 in the Assembly and Council respectively. It may be noted that Jana Reddy was not happy at the reply of Finance Minister E Rajender that they could get Rs 96,000 crore proposals made in the Rs 1.15 lakh crore budget for 2015-16 as it was stated by the Chief Minister. At this juncture, the Congress is trying to corner the treasury benches on TRS’ failure to keep its promises.
According to informed sources, the Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy, who turned rather rhetoric on Friday, is expected to make his voice heard on Monday too. This time around, he is likely to pull up the ruling party on ignoring the key sectors and presenting a flipside of budgetary allocations which are not apt. The Opposition party seems to have rejuvenated its strength to make potholes at the ruling party on budget proposals for not being facts and mere jugglery. Jana Reddy, Uthaam Kumr Reddy and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka are likely to make use of the Assembly as a platform to make their voice heard for the cause of people. (NSS)
