Puducherry, June 29: Students Congress Puducherry unit today threatened to resign enmasse, if action was taken against a few under the pretext of indulging in anti-party activites.
It may be noted that show-cause notice answerable in seven days were sent to eight party workers, including a few Students Congress members, who were supporters of former Chief Minister N Rangasamy, for their alleged anti-party activites during the recent Lok Sabha elections.
Students Congress General Secretary K S Ramesh, who tendered his reply to the show-cause notice to Pradesh Congress Committee(PCC) President A V Subramanian, told newspersons that the charges levelled against them are false. Mr Ramesh said while the All India Congress Committee(AICC) President and United Progressive Alliance(UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and the Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi are encouraging youths for the development of the party here, the youths are affected because of groupism in the party.
Mr Rangasamy did not ask them to work for the Pattali Makkal Katchi(PMK), as alleged in the general elections, he added.
Mr Ramesh criticised Mr Subramanian for acting hastily and partially on the issue. The PCC Chief had indulged in wanton act to prevent us from participating in the Youth Congress polls, he added. Meanwhile, Mr Subramanian told newspersons that notices were sent to eight persons for indulging in anti-party activities during the Lok Sabha elections and the time to receive their reply was being extended by tomorrow, keeping the postal delay in mind.
The PCC President said the decision was taken after approval from the party high command. A Committee would be constituted to examine and take a decision after getting the replies, and those who failed to submit their replies, would be expelled from the primary membership of the party, he added.
He said the party high command would initiate action against Mr Rangasamy, since he is an AICC Member.
