Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday challenged the Congress and TDP leaders for an open debate on the development of Hyderabad city.
He was speaking after laying foundation stone for Rs 334 crore comprehensive water supply project in Malkajgiri circle under the World Bank-funded Municipal Development Project. The Chief Minister alleged that previous TDP and Congress regime not only ignored the development of Hyderabad, but destroyed the drinking water supply system. He said several major roads turn into pools every time when it drizzles in the city. He said that the previous governments did not take action to prevent encroachments on storm water drains which consequently deteriorated the conditions.
KCR ridiculed the claims of TDP and Congress leaders of developing Hyderabad. He said no focused approach was adopted to develop Hyderabad city. However, he assured that his government would develop Hyderabad as an international city. All households in the city will get water supply in the next four years, he assured while announcing that he would not go to people to seek votes if he fails to fulfill the promise.
The Chief Minister also targeted his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu and accused him of hatching a conspiracy to create problems for Telangana Government. He alleged that Naidu was even misleading the people of Andhra Pradesh. He announced that he would convene a public meeting at Vijayawada to expose how Naidu was cheating the people of his State.
KCR claimed that he had already warned people that there would be power shortage in Telangana for first three years. He said while he was trying to arrange 1,000 MW from Chattisgarh as a short term measure, he would ensure that Telangana become a power surplus State in the next three years. He asked Telangana TDP leaders to pressurise Naidu to provide Telangana State it share of power from Krishnapatnam project. He also reiterated that the government would not stop power generation at Srisailam.
The Chief Minister also praised Malkajgiri MLA Chitala Kanaka Reddy for following the drinking water supply project which would be completed in three phases.
