Congress suffers jolt as MLA Rammohan Reddy joins TRS

The Congress party received a major jolt on Wednesday when its MLA C. Ram Mohan Reddy joined the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

Rammohan Reddy represents Makhtal Assembly constituency of Mahabubnagar district and is the brother of former minister D.K. Aruna. He called on Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao at his camp office on Wednesday and expressed his desire to join the TRS. KCR admitted him into the party by offering a pink khandwa.

Speaking to media persons later, Rammohan Reddy said that the Telangana State was witnessing overall development under the leadership of KCR. He said he had joined the ruling party to ensure development of his Makhtal constituency. He said he was impressed with the Chief Minister’s vision for irrigation and public welfare.

When asked whether his sister DK Aruna too would join TRS, Rammohan Reddy replied in negative and said their politics was entirely different.

Meanwhile, TRS MLA Guvvala Balaraju has welcomed Rammohan Reddy’s entry into TRS. It may be mentioned that both the MLAs had a bitter fight last year during the meeting of Mahabubnagar Zilla Parishad wherein Balaraju had allegedly slapped Rammohan Reddy. The Congress had staged protest for several days after the incident. However, today both the MLAs were together when they met the Chief Minister. (INN)
