New Delhi: Accusing the Congress of suffering from “ego” issues and “inflated arrogance”, Delhi’s ruling AAP on Tuesday it will not waste any more time to sew an alliance with the grand old party.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Gopal Rai told the media that the Congress was not interested in saving the country.
“It (Congress) is more interested in its ego and inflated arrogance. It is not much interested in defeating the Modi-Shah duo,” he said, referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah.
“This is clear from across the country, be it Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi, Bihar or Andhra Pradesh. In all these states, the Congress is thinking about saving its own party and its ego, not the country.”
He added: “They are not coming out with a clear stand about Delhi.”
He said the AAP will go ahead with all its seven candidates in Delhi.
“We will now focus on how to defeat BJP on our own. Post Holi, we will beef up our election campaign.”
Rai said the way Congress was divided over an alliance in Delhi was a shame. This, he said, would harm the anti-BJP alliance.
“They have wasted so much time. Even a common man will not take so much time in taking decisions. This is about national interest. If a party is taking too much time in taking decisions, this shows that there are doubts in its intentions or that it is incapable of fighting in the current situation.”
Rai said AAP will start the campaign in full swing from March 23 — the death anniversary of Bhagat Singh.
“In our campaign, the focus will be on the full statehood for Delhi.”
