Congress stalwarts accuse KCR of cheating people

Congress senior leader and former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar on Sunday accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of cheating the people of Telangana with fake promises.

Addressing election meetings of Congress candidate Sarve Satyanarayana in Bhupalpally and Parkal of Warangal district on Sunday, Meira Kumar said that KCR did not implement the promise of making a Dalit CM. She said Prime Minister Narendra Modi got a major shock in Bihar elections and KCR would get a similar shock in Warangal by-polls. She said KCR has been cheating the people with his tall promises.

Meira Kumar said Congress President Sonia Gandhi granted statehood for Telangana without worrying about its consequences. She said Congress was wiped out of Andhra Pradesh only due to its decision to carve out Telangana State. However, she said that the thought with which Telangana was formed has been killed by TRS. She alleged that the TRS Government was working against the expectations of people of Telangana. She said there was no social justice in Telangana.

Earlier, AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh said that the TRS Government has failed to implement any of the major promises that it made with the people. He said that the victory of Congress candidate in Warangal was imminent.

Former Union Minister S. Jaipal Reddy has alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was not present in the Lok Sabha when Telangana Bill was introduced and passed in the House. He said KCR was also not seen when employees undertook general strike ‘Sakala Janula Samme’. However, KCR came to power by making false promises with the people.

The meeting was also addressed by Leader of Opposition K. Jana Reddy, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and other leaders.(INN)
