Congress stages ”Raj Bhavan chalo” in Karnataka

Bangalore, May 09: Opposition Congress today staged a ”Raj Bhavan chalo” programme demanding dismissal of the Karnataka government, seeking to turn the spotlight again on allegations of corruption against the B S Yeddyurappa regime.

The party held a rally at Freedom Park where its leaders made a frontal attack on the ruling dispensation.

Senior Congress leaders M Mallikarjuna Kharge, N Dharam Singh, Oscar Fernandes, B Janardhana Poojary along with party in-charge of state affairs Madhusudan Mistry and Sanjay Nirupam, and KPCC president G Parameshwara and Opposition Leader in the Assembly Siddaramaiah were among others who led the campaign.

“Chief Minister is continuing in office as if nothing has happened. Scams after scams are coming onto the surface. The list has become big. This corrupt government should go,” Parameshwara told the rally.

He alleged that the government had denotified thousands of acres here and in other towns for the benefit of “their own people”, and also allotting land to ministers.

They later marched to the Raj Bhavan and handed over a memorandum to Governor H R Bhardwaj seeking dismissal of the Yeddyurappa government.
