Hyderabad: The Congress is likely to announce its candidates for Lok Sabha polls from Telangana in January.
According to a senior leader, the first list of the contesting candidates may be announced in the second or third week of January as they will get enough time to campaign.
Leaders of the party said that delay in announcing the party candidates in the assembly elections was one of the reasons for the defeat of the party.
The elections to Lok Sabha would be held in April or May next year. Even if the polls are held in April in Telangana, the Congress candidates would get three months time for the campaign.
The leaders said that most of the candidates of the assembly polls were in dilemma on getting the party nomination and were unable to plan their campaign programme.
For the Lok Sabha election also, the TRS would announce its candidate at the earliest, giving them ample scope to the campaign. Several seniors are ready to contest the Lok Sabha polls.
Except in Khammam and GHMC area, the party has clarity on the candidates of Lok Sabha.
