New Delhi:The Congress Party on Tuesday slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi Government for imposing conditions to release the money to end the MCD worker’s strike, saying that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal does not want the crisis to come to an end.
Congress leader Ajay Maken, who met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh over the MCD strike, said that the AAP-led Government wants to remove all temporary workers, even though they had earlier promised that they would regularise daily wagers and ad-hoc workers.
“Delhi Government has put conditions to release the money, especially the one that says that employees who are temporary or on ad-hoc basis should be removed within a year. It is very sad that the party which came to power by saying that they would regularise all ad-hoc employees and daily wagers, is now putting such conditions to release money. They are even taking affidavits from the corporation commissioners assuring the same,” Maken told media here.
“They are even trying to prevent hiring of new workers, this is sad, we condemn this. The Chief Minister himself doesn’t want to situation to become normal,” he added.
Maken said that the Home Minister had assured them to look into the matter.
A delegation of the Congress Party led by Maken marched towards Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s residence here earlier today, seeking his intervention in the battle for funds between the Delhi Government and the municipal corporations.
Earlier, the municipal employees of Delhi temporarily called off a 13-day strike after the High Court intervened to end the standoff with the government, but a section of sanitation workers refused to budge.
Earlier today, some of the MCD employees staged a protest outside Delhi Jal Board chairman Kapil Mishra’s residence.
They raised slogans against Mishra over non-payment of dues. The protestors also threw garbage outside his residence.
The mayors of Delhi met the Union Home Minister yesterday and sought his intervention in getting their rightful share of funds under the Delhi Finance Commission recommendations from the Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP) Government. (ANI)
