Congress should get ready to fight communalism- Rahman Khan

Union Minister of Minority Affairs, Mr. K. Rahman Khan told that the trend to defeat the Muslim candidates in elections is very dangerous. Congress should get ready to fight communalism. These thoughts were expressed by Mr. K. Rahman Khan while addressing a conference organized by the Minorities Dept. of APCC yesterday. Mr. Mohammed Sirajuddin, President of Minority Cell of Congress presided over the meeting.

Continuing his speech, Mr. Rahman Khan told that Congress is the only party which is fighting against communalism. It is fight for the cause of secularism. Other parties may forge an alliance with the Communal parties but Congress will not enter into any such agreement. Congress is the party of the Muslims but why are the Muslims failing to get their problems solved? This has to be reviewed seriously. He further told that the Muslims have played a major role in Telangana struggle. Congress will resume power if it takes the Muslims into its confidence. He told that Muslims to get united setting aside their differences. He advised them not to consider themselves as minority since they are the second largest majority in the country. He pointed out that a Reddy community with 7% population can become stronger why can’t Muslims with larger percentage of their population than the Reddy’s become powerful? He welcomed the reservation policy of the State Govt. through which 260 Muslim Sarpanches were elected in the recently held Panchayath election. Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govt. of India has issued a circular to all the States to follow the model of A.P. State. He highlighted the Central schemes for the benefit of Minorities.

Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbeer, former Minister thanked Mr. Rahman Khan for making the wakf act successful.
