Congress says nothing new in Governor’s address

Hyderabad: Congress leaders and former ministers Mohammad Ali Shabbir and D. Sridhar Babu on Saturday said that there was nothing new in the governor’s address to the Legislature. Reacting to the Governor’s address, they alleged that the address was nothing but a copy paste attempt of the state government.

Shabbir Ali alleged that the Governor had copied the speech of CM KCR’s election meeting. He said that it would have been good if the governor spoke about loan waiver to the farmers, pensions, double bed room scheme while adding that there was no clarity over the unemployment allowance, jobs and retirement age of government employees.

Party MLA Sridhar Babu said that the governor had repeated the same issues mentioned in the 2014’s Congress party manifesto. He alleged that the governor had lied over the surplus electricity while noting that it was not good to blame the earlier governments on the issue. He claimed that the credit to achieve surplus status in electricity sector goes to the congress party in the country while noting that the reforms introduced by their party had led to the surplus power in the state. Another party MLA Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy said that several farmers did not receive benefits under Rythu Bandhu scheme so far. He demanded the state government to issue a white paper on the issue.

Congress party MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy demanded the state government to declare Sattupally and Aswaraopeta as separate districts of the state. He said that the governor’s speech had political criticism of rival parties. He also said that the address was also filled with half truths. Reddy said that the authorities of the state government did not fill up the pits dug up for mission Bhageeratha scheme in the state. He demanded the state government to reveal the timeline to increase the enhanced pensions in the state. He said the situation of the farmers was not good in 18 districts of the state due to drought. He urged the state government to increase the assembly session by three more days. He demanded the chief minister to protect the water body located in Manchi revula and added that the chief minister responded positively to his demand.
