Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha on Wednesday dismissed reports that appeared in a section of media that there was a possibility for cross-voting in the Presidential elections.
Talking to media persons after emerging out of Congress Legislature Party meeting convened at Jubilee Hall, Damodar Rajanarasimha said that there was no threat of cross-voting in the Presidential elections and ruled out the media reports as “baseless” and “far from truth.” He said that the CLP has discussed about the polling procedure and pattern in the Presidential elections and appealed to all members to ensure victory of UPA Presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee with huge margin of votes.
Endowment Minister C Ramachandraiah said that the CLP has conducted a mock voting for members to familiarize them with the process. Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu briefed about the casting of vote in the election.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana called upon the elected representatives to use their vote properly and ensure victory for Pranab Mukherjee. AICC observer K B Krishna Murthy was also present in the meeting.
Meanwhile 11 members of Congress party including minister Dr P Shankar Rao, R Damodar Reddy, Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy, P Manemma, Marri Shashidhar Reddy, P Satish Kumar and Anam Vivekananda Reddy abstained from the CLP meeting.
