Congress responsible for Mahabubabad violence: BJP

Hyderabad, May 30: Senior BJP leader and former union minister Bandaru Dattatreya on Saturday alleged that the ruling Congress government was solely responsibile for the Mahabubabad violent incicent on Friday in Warangal district of Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad, Mr. Dattatreya said, “Had the Rosaiah government taken preventive action to stop the Kadapa MP Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s ‘odarpu Yatra,’ the violence incident would not have happened.

Terming K. Rosaiah as a weak Chief Minister of the State, the BJP leader, who was also BJP national executive committee member, said the State government should take full responsibility of the situation and it failed to prevent the violence as it wanted to satisfy Mr. Jagan stating that it was his (Jagan) individual yatra.

He accused that entire administrative machinery has been paralysed due to inaction of the Congress government.

Ridiculing the police action of taking Jagan into preventive custody after Mahabubabad violence, Mr. Dattatreya said, “it should have acted much before Mr. Jagan began his yatra from Secunderabad Railway station“.

“Whether police acts only after violent incidents?” he questioned.

Reiterating that BJP would continue its peaceful agitation in a democratic way to achieve separate State for Telangana region, Mr. Dattatreya said the party is extending its support to the bandh called by Telangana JAC today.
