TDP MLC P Keshava on Saturday criticised the tour undertaken by AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi in Anantapur to meet the families of farmers who committed suicide.
Speaking to media persons at NTR Trust Bhavan here, Keshava said highest number of suicides was registered during the Congress rule from 2004 to 2014. While in power, the Congress party completely neglected the farmers. Now it has been trying to defame the TDP Government, he alleged while asking Rahul Gandhi to list out the steps taken by the previous Congress Government for farmers’ welfare.
Keshava said that Rahul Gandhi’s tour was aimed at registering party’s presence in the State and also to strengthen the YSR Congress Party. He said that the Congress party left nothing for Andhra Pradesh after its bifurcation. Despite starting with a deficit budget, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu worked hard to begin a new era of development. Instead of appreciating Naidu, the Congress party is trying to damage the TDP Government, he alleged. (INN)
