It is expected that in the reorganization of the Congress, A.P. State is likely to get more representation. Congress leader of the State, Mr. Khaleequr Rahman is trying his luck. If Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad, General Secretary is relieved of A.P. affairs, Mr. Dig Vijay Singh, Ms. Ambika Soni or Mr. Mukul Wasnik may be made in charge of A.P. affairs. After the cabinet reshuffle, Ms. Sonia Gandhi’s attention is concentrated on the reorganization of the Congress Party. In view of the general elections of 2014, A.P. State has been given adequate representation in the Central Cabinet. In Congress Working Comiittee and AICC also, A.P. is likely to get more posts. Mr. V.Hanumantha Rao and Mr. P.Sudhakara Reddy are functioning as Secretaries in AICC.
There is a strong possibility that Mr. V.Hanumantha Rao’s rank may be elevated as General Secretary. There isn’t any Muslim representation of the State in the Central Cabinet. Even in AICC, no Muslim leader has been given representation. Mr. Khaleequr Rahman is trying to get Secretary’s post in AICC. He was also a contender for Congress Party ticket from Mahboobnagar for the recently held Assembly election. He has good relations with Mr. Digvijay Singh, Mr. Salman Khursheed, Mr. Rahman Khan and other Central leaders. He is counted as one who submits his reports to Mr. Rahul Gandhi on the political situation of the State.
In addition to it, he is the brother-in-law of the former cricket captain Mr. Mohammed Azheruddin. Party High Command is aware that Muslim didn’t get adequate representation in AICC and Central Cabinet. Ms. Digvijay Singh and Ms. Ambika Soni have already functioned as in charge General Secretaries of A.P. affairs. It is also likely that Mr. Mukul Wassik may be made in charge General Secretary of A.P. affairs.
The names of D.Sriinivas, former Congress President, Mr., M. Shashidhar Reddy, MLA, Mr. K.Sambasiva Rao and Mr. K.S.Rao are also under consideration for the post of Congress General Secretary of AICC or Congress Working Committee.
