Bhubaneswar, March 07: The opposition Congress today decided to raise the alleged starvation death of five members of a tribal family in Orissa’s Balangir district, during the short assembly session beginning tomorrow.
Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh alleged that five members of Jintu Bariha’s family at Chhabrapalli village in Balangir district died of starvation between September and December 2009.
Rejecting the government’s claim the family members died of malnutrition and a surving member was provided a BPL card, Singh said Jintu, his mother, wife and a son and a daughter died of starvation.
The BJP legislature party chaired by party leader K V Singhdeo also decided to take on the government on the alleged mining scam and naxal violence.
Though the NCP said it would support the government’s vote-on-account, it would demand proper implementation of development projects in the coming four months.
