Hyderabad, September 02: The observance of second death anniversary of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy scheduled to be held on Friday is all set to become a show of strength for both Jagan Mohan Reddy and the Congress party.
While the PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana has instructed his partymen to observe YSR’s anniversary at a large scale across the State, pro-Jagan leaders are preparing to sabotage the Congress events accusing the party of doing injustice to the YSR’s family after his death.
YSR Congres leaders say that the Congress leaders had no moral right to take the name of YSR after what they did to Jagan Mohan Reddy. Describing the CBI’s on-going disproportionate case against Jagan, MLA M Gurunath Reddy said the Congress leaders were trying to defame YSR by filing fake cases against Jagan Mohan Reddy. Another Congress leader Jalil Khan questioned the Congress party’s logic behind observing YSR’s death anniversary. He said in less than two years of his death, the Congress leaders have forgotten that it was YSR who brought the party back to power in 2004 and 2009 elections and instead of rewarding his family members, the Congress is now trying to tarnish their image.
Some pro-Jagan leaders have announced that they won’t allow the Congress leader to even touch the statue of YSR in their areas. It is feared that the pro-Jagan and Congress party leaders might clash at several places, especially in the Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra districts, over the issue of who will garland the YSR’s statue. As many as 30 MLAs and two MPs who have resigned to their post in favour of Jagan Mohan Reddy are holding massive functions in their respective areas to observe YSR’s death anniversary on Friday.
Meanwhile, sources close to Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the death anniversary would be observed at his family estate in the Kadapa district in which around 30,000 people are expected to participate. Meanwhile, YSR’s brother and former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy will also be leading a ‘padayatra’ from Rangapuram village to YSR ghat on Friday.
YS Rajasekhara was killed on September 2, 2009, when the helicopter that he was flying in crashed over Nallamala forest in Andhra Pradesh.
