Congress President Sonia attacks PM over delaying Parliamentary sessions

New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Monday accused PM of “lacking the courage to face” the Houses over the delay in holding winter session of Parliament.
The Parliament usually holds its winter sessions during November which runs for four weeks. Noting that the dates for winter session have not been announced yet Sonia Gandhi attacked BJP Government for delaying the matter and instead campaigning for the poll-bound Gujarat Assembly elections.
Sonia was addressing the meeting of the Congress Working Committee in New Delhi said, “Modi government, in arrogance, has cast dark shadow on India’s Parliamentary democracy by sabotaging
Winter Session on flimsy grounds. It’s mistaken if it thinks by locking temple of democracy, it’ll escape constitutional accountability ahead of elections.”
She added that Prime Minister had the audacity to hold midnight celebrations in Parliament to launch the ill-prepared and flawed Goods and Services Tax (GST) but lacks the courage to face Parliament.
She added, “A year later, demonetisation has done nothing but rub salt on the wounds of distressed farmers, small traders, housewives and daily workers. The fortunes of a handful are being built by destroying the future of the poor and the oppressed.”
