Congress pins hope on judiciary following Prez rule in U’khand

New Delhi: Asserting that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Government murdered democracy and the constitutional values by imposing President’s rule in Uttarakhand, the Congress on Monday said that they have full faith in the judiciary and people of the state.

Congress leader Pramod Tiwari alleged that the BJP resorted to unfair means to remove an elected government in Uttarakhand, after all the attempts to lure their MLAs failed.

“This is limits of cheating. Modi ji’s government has murdered democracy and Constitutional values a day before floor test. They tried everything to lure away Congress MLAs, but hey failed. And when you failed in all the attempts, you murdered the Constitution and removed an elected government by unfair means. Every non-BJP party should learn from this. We have full faith in the judiciary, we will get justice. We have faith in the people,” he told ANI.

Upset over imposition of President’s rule in Uttarakhand, which had sent the political temperature in the state soaring, the Congress party yesterday said that they would challenge the imposition of President’s rule in the court.

After almost seven days of verbal battle between the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the political crisis in Uttarakhand, President’s rule was imposed in the hill state on Sunday.

The Uttarakhand Assembly has been kept in suspended animation following President’s rule in the state.

The recommendation for central rule was made by the Union Cabinet at its emergency meeting last night, which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Congress had dubbed the cabinet meeting as the last phase of the drama scripted by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). (ANI)
