Hyderabad: Congress party thrown a challenge to the ruling party TRS and TDP-BJP duo by announcing Mayoral candidate’s name as Vikram Goud in the ongoing GHMC elections.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Monday, TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy has announced Mayoral candidate’s name as former Minister Mukesh Goud’s son Vikram Goud. He said that Vikram Goud has pursued higher education and was contesting from Jambagh division for corporator in the ongoing GHMC elections.
He said that the party has set up Election Campaign Committee with Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao as Chairman and former Union Minister Sarve Sathyanarayana, MP Nandi Ellaiah, Rajya Sabha members MA Khan, Renuka Chowdhary, former Ministers Sabitha Indra Reddy, G Prasada Kumar, former MLA Marri Shashidhar Reddy, former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav and MLC P Sudhakar Reddy as members.
TPCC Chief said that the party leaders would intensify the campaign across the City today onwards. He revealed that AICC general secretaryTelangana State Congress party affairs incharge Digvijay Singh will participate in election campaign on January 29 and AICC general secretary Gulam Nabi Azad will participate in election campaign in Old City onJanuary 30.
Uttam said that AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi has appointed former MLA Arepally Mohan as TPCC SC Cell Chairman. Uttam handed over the B-Form to Patolla Sanjeeva Reddy, who was the party candidate for the NarayanaKhed assembly by-election. He exuded confidence that the party will win in both GHMC elections and Narayana Khed by-elections. (NSS)
