Is Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh trying to play the role of the legendary Narada to create a rift among the senior leaders of the BJP ?
Speaking at a meet the press programme, Jairam Ramesh said there was no denial of the fact that BJP’s Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj had extended support in the Lok Sabha to the A.P. Reorganizaton Bill 2014 for the creation of Telangana state, where as the party’s senior leaders like Arun Jailtely and Venkaiah Naidu went all out to create hurdles to the Bill in Rajya Sabha.
Jairam Ramesh had a dig TRS by asserting that it was Congress which had gifted Telangana and hence Congress alone can take credit for it, and no other party can make a claim. As a matter of fact, TRS role in the formulation of the Bill was zero, and KCR was conspicuous by his absence when the Bill was taken up in the Lok Sabha, he quipped.
The Congress minister even did not spare the Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, by stating that he was speaking at tandem on Telangana and making irrelevant comments.
He exuded confidence that Congress would come to power in Telangana, as only it can provide a stable government in the new state. Stability, social justice and communal harmony were possible only under a Congress regime, he pointed out and quipped that social justice does not mean autocratic rule. He reiterated that TRS cannot form the government in Telangana on its own, thus giving rise to speculation whether the Congress was prepared for a post- poll alliance with the pink party. (NSS)
