(Siasat News)Pranab Mukherjee was on Wednesday sworn in as the country’s 13th President at an impressive ceremony in the packed and historic Central Hall of Parliament.
Now the demand is that general secretary Rahul Gandhi to be named leader of the Lok Sabha, replacing Pranab Mukherjee.
10 MPs urge Sonia to make Rahul Leader of Lok Sabha. A letter sent by them to Congress president Sonia Gandhi contains this suggestion.
Bhakta Charan Das, who represents Kalahandi constituency in Odisha, wrote: “there is a need that Rahul should play a role in Parliament as the party is facing many challenges inside and outside Parliament.”
The MPs who signed the joint letter include Pratap Singh Bajwa (Gurdaspur), Francisco Sardinha (South Goa), Arvind Kumar Sharma (Karnal),Sanjay Nirupam (Mumbai North), Madan Lal Sharma (Jammu), Bhakta Charan Das (Kalahandi) and Ranee Narah (Lakhimpur, Assam), P.C. Chacko (Thrissur).
Madan Lal Sharma said, “Rahul Gandhi stayed away from holding any position in UPA-I. This is the right time he should play a role in Parliament.“
