Congress MPs toeing TRS line, Ministers upset

Hyderabad, September 21: Several Telangana ministers reportedly took strong exception to the remarks made by some Congress MPs from the region on issues related to Telangana advocates and Group-I preliminary examination.

At today’s cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister K Rosaiah, Danam Nagender raised objection to Telangana Congress MPs making statements which were against the state government and the party’s interests.

“There is a need for all to condemn such statements since they should not confine to one region.” Supporting Nagender’s argument, M Mukesh Goud urged the chief minister to control the MPs, particularly Madhu Yashki Goud, Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Sarve Satyanarayana, Manda Jagannadham and G Vivek, or take it to the high command’s notice.

Damodar Rajanarsimha also wanted the chief minister to intervene in the issue. “It appears they (Telangana Congress MPs) are talking on behalf of the TR S. Are they representing TRS or the Congress? This is not proper.

The chief minister should intervene to control them,” he remarked.

It is learnt that another Telangana minister and elder brother of Bhongir MP K Rajagopal Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who usually talks on issues pertaining to Telangana, did not utter a word when his cabinet colleagues found fault with the party Telangana MPs.

Rosaiah, while acknowledging their arguments, is understood to have said that the party high command was already looking into the state’s affairs and all should abide by the decisions taken by it. “There is a need for all of us to maintain restraint,” he reportedly told them.

Nagender urged his colleagues not to discuss or raise the Telangana advocates issue at the cabinet meeting since the government had already taken a decision on it. Further, Nagender found fault with the Telangana protagonists attacking Silpa Mohan Reddy’s convoy in Karimnagar.

Intervening, Seemandhra ministers N Raghuveera Reddy and Vatti Vasant Kumar found fault with the Telangana ministers for failure to condemn the incident immediately.

However, minister D Sridhar Babu, who belongs to Karimnagar district, pointed out that he had no information about Silpa Mohan Reddy’s visit to the district. He, however, termed the incident as unfortunate and needed to be condemned.

He also expressed solidarity with Mohan Reddy.
