Congress MLC from Telangana region Yadav Reddy on Saturday condemned the remarks made by Government chief whip Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy that the Telangana sentiment was not strong in the region this by-elections.
Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party Office, Yadav Reddy said that there was no truth in reports that the Congress party has lost the by-elections due to negative comments made by party seniors. He said that the party lost in the by-elections due to indifferent style of functioning of leaders against Telangana statehood. The party suffered defeat due to inordinate delay in announcing decision on statehood by the Congress high command, he pointed out.
Senior MLC K R Amos demanded that the ministers resign from their posts in order to mount pressure on the high command if they are really committed for the formation of Telangana state. The party suffered defeat in the by-elections as the leaders diluted statehood agitation and aspired to become ministers, he said.
He said that the Telangana leaders did not participate in the by-election campaign as the party did not send any invitation to them. He said that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh did not announce decision on Telangana State as the Chief Minister has failed to send an actual report on the situation in the region.
The party would survive in the next elections, if the Chief Minister at least sends correct reports over the situation in Telangana now, he stated.
