Congress is looking for an escape route: CPI (M)

Kolkata, November 19: CPI(M) leader Md Selim today said Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s open reference to increase in corruption was an indicator that her party was looking for “an escape route” from the series of scams her party was embroiled in.

“Whenever Congress is in trouble, it looks for an escape route and particularly after Supreme Court has asked Prime Minister to file an affidavit in the wake of 2G spectrum scam,” Selim told a TV channel here.

Stating that it was ‘no use’ lamenting the rise of graft and greed, CPI(M) central committee member said “after Adarsh housing irregularities, CWG, the country has witnessed the largest-ever financial scam in the 2G spectrum. It has cost the exchequer nearly Rs 1.76 lakh crore where Congress is involved”.

“Corruption is rampant in the government but Sonia Gandhi had not uttered a word so far.
