New Delhi: The Congress Working Committee(CWC) who had earlier passed a resolution to make Rahul Gandhi party president seems to have decided to finalize the official announcement on 19 December.
The committee had a meeting on Monday at the Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s residence at Janpath to finalize the schedule for the party’s top post-election which was also attended by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh along with senior party leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Ahmed Patel sources reported.
The Committee will be issuing the Notification for filing the nomination for the Congress president on 1 December and shall remain open until 4 December. The last date for withdrawing from the nomination is 11 December.
The voting shall be conducted on 16 December and the results pertaining to the election will be declared on 19 December.
News sources have also reported the committee is likely to coronate Rahul Gandhi as party’s president since he is the only expected candidate in the fray.
The party has time until 31 December to complete the entire organizational election process and submit the final report to the Election Commission.
